2017 Hyundai Accent vs. 2017 Honda Civic

The 2017 Hyundai Accent is one of the most talked-about vehicles from the Pacific rim. This is mainly due to its design, which promises excellent performance and comfort with minimal problems in terms of reliability. Over time, Hyundai has been spending more and more in research and development, and the Hyundai Accent is one of the results of this effort. Compared to the 2017 Honda Civic, the Hyundai Accent has a lot more to offer and would be the car to choose. Some of the reasons for this include:

Design & Style

The Honda Civic’s design focuses on an angular theme, with sharply angled lights and grille. The Honda admittedly looks appealing, but it certainly does not beat the Hyundai Accent which has more presence. The Hyundai seems beefier and has a larger grille, giving it a better stance compared to the Honda.

The Honda has an interior which is not exactly bad, but feels boring. The Hyundai’s interior is made of premium material and intuitive design. The result is that both passenger and driver end up feeling more comfortable in the Hyundai.

Technology & Safety

The Honda and the Hyundai have some tech features that are truly amazing, including dashboard touch screens and the satellite navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality. Safety features include multiple airbags, antilock braking systems and cruise control.

However, the Hyundai seems to have much more to offer as standard. These include keyless trunk opening, simple integration with your devices such as your phone, a larger navigation screen and HID headlights which swivel when turning the steering wheel. The Hyundai Accent also has extra safety features such as knee airbags for the driver as well. Pedestrian detection is also offered as an extra on the Hyundai.

The Honda Civic has a 2-liter inline-4 engine which produces 174 bhp and 2138 lb ft of torque. The Hyundai, on the other hand, has a 2-liter base engine which produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb ft of torque. Despite the power difference in favor of the Honda, the Hyundai is still the better car to have since it is lighter which makes up for the power shortfall. The more advanced stability control and suspension means that it’s also sharper to drive. If you want a lot more power, you can choose from the four other engine types that can be shipped with the Hyundai Accent, such as the sport version which produces 200 horsepower and 195 lb ft of torque.

The Bottom Line

The Hyundai Accent is simply better than the Honda Civic, and would be the preferred choice for any driver. Not only will you have more fun driving it, but you will also find it to be reliable and more useful as well.
