2021 Hyundai Kona vs. 2021 Kia Soul

A subcompact SUV with an upscale cabin, there is indeed plenty of things to love in the 2021 Hyundai Kona. One is the fact that it has an energetic turbo engine which is now up for grabs for car lovers out there. Another is a promised comfortable ride. It also has a user-friendly infotainment interface.

When it comes to the 2021 Kia Soul, expect spacious seating inside. This subcompact SUV also has a user-friendly infotainment setup. It comes equipped with the newly standard rear seat alert.

Design & Style

The 2021 Kona has a 19.2 cubic feet of cargo space which can be expanded further to 45.8 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded. It can accommodate up to five passengers in its comfortable and supportive seats. There is plenty of legroom inside, and taller occupants will love the back seats too even during a long ride. It has been styled using quality materials, giving it a modern feel all-in-all.

A roomy ride, the 2021 Soul can seat up to five people. Note, however, that while the seats are comfy, it can only actually seat four adults instead of five. This is because it lacks room for three at the back, except if there are three kids instead of adults in it. The driver enjoys a great visibility with its high seating position. A mix of soft-touch surfaces and hard plastics make it not as nice as that of the Kona when it comes to design and style.

Technology & Safety

The Hyundai Kona is gifted with a user-friendly infotainment system that is paired with a seven-inch touch screen. This one is responsive and comes with physical controls and buttons that can be accessed from the driver’s side. It also integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and has other features like six speakers, a Bluetooth, and two USB ports. Safety features include the rearview camera, forward collision warning, driver drowsiness monitoring, and lane keep assist.

The 2021 Soul, on the other hand, also boasts of an easy-to-use infotainment system. Just like the Kona, this has a seven-inch touch screen. This carries the same standard functionalities as its Hyundai Counterpart as well. Safety wise, it only has the rear-seat alert that reminds adults that there are kids or pets inside the ride. It carries a rearview camera, as well.

Performance

The 2021 Kona carries a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine under its hood which is enough to generate up to 147 horsepower. The 1.6-liter turbo-four version generates more power for 175 horses. The base engine in the Kia Soul, meanwhile, puts off the same power as that of the Kona’s 147-horsepower output.

The Bottom Line

The 2021 Hyundai Kona is one SUV that really knows how to deliver the expectations of its users. It is designed to be an eye-candy, and has all the technologies needed for an enjoyable and safe ride. It has great engine punches as well. The Kia Soul will be ashamed to get near it.
