2022 Hyundai Santa Fe vs. 2022 Nissan Rogue

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is a moderately sized SUV which has received praise for its efficient powertrain, hybrid option, enhanced transmission and sizeable touch displays. But how does it stack up against the 2022 Nissan Rogue, a sport utility vehicle with superb fuel efficiency, serene interior and considerable performance?

Design & Style

The Nissan Rogue can hold a maximum of 5 passengers. The headlights are split in a manner which widens the face with a grille that is U shaped and lines that extend over its ridged hood. The frame sits on seventeen inch wheels and passengers within the cabin will be presented with eight inch displays. The seats are covered in soft, supple leather with memory settings.

The Hyundai Santa Fe has a suave appearance that definitely impresses. Its grille is also split with panels that are textured and bracketed. Metallic bands extend along the bottom front end and headlights which are T shaped. The cabin has a dashboard which is tiered that features an eight inch touch display and passengers will also be presented with ambient illumination and nappa style leather seats.

Technology & Safety

The Hyundai Santa Fe is highly regarded for its safety, so much so that it garnered a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS. The NHTSA also found favor with the vehicle, awarding it five stars. Its features consist of automated high beams, emergency brakes, and cruise and lane control with multiple airbags. Luxuries within its cabin include a Harmon Kardon sound system, heated seating, camera with surround view and panoramic sunroof.  The Nissan Rogue has also captured a Top Safety Pick but the NHTSA only gave it four stars. It has most of the safety gear found in the Hyundai, including pedestrian detection, blind area monitoring and automated high beams.

Performance

The Nissan Rogue now features a variable compression engine which phased out the inline 4 used in previous generations. Its turbo 3, 1.5 liter engine can generate 201 horsepower with 222 pounds of torque. It also has an independent suspension in the rear with mounts that are more rigid which calms the vehicle during cruise speed. Those that purchase the Hyundai Santa Fe can get a turbo 4, 2.5 liter engine that can generate 277 horsepower with 311 pounds of torque that operates in conjunction with the eight speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

The Bottom Line

While both of these SUVs are well matched when it comes to safety and luxury features, the Hyundai has an edge when it comes to performance. The Nissan Rogue only has a single engine, no hybrid option and some of its buttons are cheaply designed, which makes the Hyundai Santa Fe the winner.
